Neurology, PA is a practice located in Port Charlotte on Florida’s west coast, providing a myriad of neurological and neurological related healthcare services to thousands of patients throughout the region. The practice averages approximately fifty patient visits per day.
The physicians, Liliana Montoya MD, George Li MD, and Roy King DO, are affiliated with Fawcett Memorial Hospital, also located in Port Charlotte.
Practice Administrator Susan Kirsch oversees the management of the entire Neurology, PA practice. She has been with Neurology, PA since 2004. “We have always considered ourselves to be a “cutting-edge” medical practice…always seeking to adopt the highest levels of technology for providing both medical treatment to our patients, and for operating the business,” said Ms. Kirsch.
Ms. Kirsch noted, “On the practice management side, we were very early adopters of automation to help us keep track of our financial information, billing, patient demographics, and so on.”
The practice used that system for many years. “It served us well until the point where it became too inadequate for our growing needs. The search began for something better. That’s when we heard about ADS. We saw the presentation of their practice management system and it completely impressed us. We looked at other systems as well, but nothing compared with the ADS system. It was installed in November, 2010,” Ms. Kirsch said.
ADS performed a data conversion from Neurology, PA’s existing system and transferred that data to the new ADS system. Ms. Kirsch said, “This was great. We didn’t have to re-enter large amounts of patient data which proved to be a significant timesaver.”
Interest quickly began to grow in automation for electronic health records. Neurology, PA saw the MedicsDocAssistant EHR from ADS for neurology, and the reaction was the same as when they saw the MedicsElite PM system. “It was love at first sight,” said Ms. Kirsch. “We saw immediately that it was excellent for neurology and how it would help eliminate paper, reduce files, improve workflow and revolutionize our approach to handling our patients’ clinical information.”
The MedicsDocAssistant EHR was implemented in February, 2011. Ms. Kirsch noted that training was comprehensive and the system was in use quickly, and has proven to be everything Neurology, PA expected and anticipated.
The ADS systems are integrated in a single, unified solution that processes the patients’ clinical and medical information, as well as the practice’s business requirements.
STIMULUS ACT INCENTIVES RECEIVED
Ms. Kirsch pointed out, “The MedicsDocAssistant EHR has also done one other thing for us: all three of our doctors received their maximum Stage 1 EHR Stimulus Act incentives ($18,000 each) totaling $54,000!”
“Without question, we would not hesitate to recommend ADS and their Medics solutions to any neurology practice interested in updated automation and in capitalizing on the Stimulus Act incentive program,” said Ms. Kirsch.
