ADS SYSTEMS USED:
Boris Keisserman, MedCare’s Administrator, relayed some unfortunate but relevant history on MedCare. “One of our clinics had been located in Rockaway, NY, (on the Atlantic Ocean) and it was wiped out by Hurricane Sandy.”
As part of MedCare’s “After Sandy Recovery,” they knew they’d also need to implement updated software since the system they had been using was failing them. “We would’ve needed to obtain much better automation regardless of Sandy.”
After an extensive system search with intense due diligence, MedCare’s decision was made in August, 2013 to implement the Medics PM and EHR from Advanced Data Systems (ADS). “The software just showed very well on demonstration, and ADS had plenty of clients, all of whom spoke highly of the Medics software, and of ADS as a company.”
Mr. Keisserman went on to say, “We needed a PM system that could handle all of the management, financial, operational and EDI nuances of each of our specialties, including family billing, guarantor billing, workers comp claims, specialty-specific scheduling, and more. Plus, we needed multiple tax IDs, and no system we saw was able to handle that better than Medics, with its segregated IDs, yet also with its roll-up reporting.”
“Of course, another unshakable requirement was that the system needed to handle Article 28 reporting and APG billing capabilities. Not only does the Medics PM produce incredibly comprehensive, user-friendly financial and operational analytics, it’s also excellent for our Article 28 reporting needs,” Mr. Keisserman said.
The Medics PM is used for performing pre-appointment eligibility verifications, automated ERAs, editing and resubmitting any denials, claim tracking, obtaining copayments, and for statements to MedCare’s patients. “The system is priceless in terms of how it generates revenue for us, and helps ensure we’ll be paid for every visit,” Mr. Keisserman noted.
There were similar concerns on the EHR side as explained by Mr. Keisserman. “We wanted one EHR versatile enough for multiple specialties with templates and content, and with provider-defined capabilities for each one’s workflow specifics, medication favorites, and routines. The Medics EHR nailed it on all fronts as a powerful, time saving clinical records solution.”
The Medics EHR supports quick encounter data input, lab orders, electronic prescribing, and image and document management. And working as a single, unified system, it immediately transmits encounter data to the Medics PM for quick and accurate billing.
MedCare is using the Medics EHR’s built-in PCMH dashboard reporting for its PCMH Level-3 compliance and value-based medicine initiatives.
“The Medics Suite has certainly benefited MedCare financially, operationally, and clinically. And, ADS is a great company to work with. System support is excellent," Mr. Kiesserman said.
Mr. Keisserman closed by saying, “If you’re looking for a great combination of company and software, look no further than ADS and the Medics Suite!”
